I’m going to keep this one short. I know I don’t blog as consistently as maybe I had planned, but it’s very hard to know what to share with people and what to keep private. I want to share everything! lol But that’s not always the best either. Whenever we have some internal issues with our business, I really want to go tell people how much someone has done us wrong or that they called me first thing Monday morning to call me a bitch, when I was trying to handle the situation like an adult... But we all know that nothing is solved by holding onto anger or bringing someone else’s negative outlook into your own life. So instead, I thought I’d share some quotes that help me stay on track.

“When you focus on you, you grow. When you focus on shit, shit grows.”

“When you focus on problems, you will have more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you have more opportunities.”

“The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”

“We rise by lifting others.”

“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”

“Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Instead focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward, toward finding the answer.”

“If you focus on success, you’ll have stress. When you focus on excellence, success will be guaranteed.”

I don’t know if there is a real way to know who said all these quotes since the internet is clearly not a place for finding the truth about anything. But they are nice quotes that can recenter a person.

One of the things I was thinking about last week when talking to some bands and promotors out in Ottawa/Toronto area was how helpful some people are - let’s focus on that. I think the biggest thing that was revealed to me was; those that are helpful to others will find help when they need it. I have been bitter in the past about situations where I helped a fellow artist or band by suggesting them for a gig or even just booking them myself, and then was upset because they never repaid the favour. I never did anything about it or said anything to anyone but I held onto that, thinking why do these things always seem to go one way and not the other. I now see that it’s not about repaying someone who helps you, it’s about paying it forward. I understand that now and am foolish for not realizing it sooner. I am blown away by the generosity of people I have never met who are willing to help us out on tour - people offering a place to stay or to help get shows lined up. It really would be much harder without these people, and so I am grateful to those who are in a position to help us and know that as long as I am in a position to helps others, I will keep doing so. I’ve written multiple times about supporting other artists, but this may be the clearest it’s ever been in my mind. We really do need to stick together and we all have to know that lifting someone else up is never going to hurt you.

When issues arise and you can’t have a constructive conversation to solve things, it’s best to walk away and keep a positive attitude. Hard work and optimism attract good things. We strive to put on the most epic show every single time we play. We are in competition only with ourselves to do better than the last show. We hope our fans love us for this because it’s all there is. We will keep doing shows and look for new opportunities, only seeking glory lol. And one day glory may pay my mortgage ;) We love going from town to town meeting new people who are as passionate about music as we are. It’s only tough when someone tries to stop our train, but I feel like we have more people behind us pushing us forward than those in front trying to derail us. So thank you. ...till next time.
